The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel may appear to be a decorative wind-up
toy, but great things come in small packages, and this package contains
a dynamo dog. It's size makes it the perfect lap-warmer. What
can be more relaxing to the owner than to feel your fingers slide though
the silky-smooth coat? Perfect picture of relaxation and tranquility
- right. Now add in the heart of an athlete. Cavaliers may
be in the toy group, but their personality is all sporting dog.
Male Cavaliers are generally
a combination of gentility and self confidence, although many people have
accused Cavaliers of being arrogant. Female Cavaliers tend to be
somewhat reserved. The dark spaniel eyes convey the words "I need
to be pampered and loved." Regal posing, which is totally natural
to Cavaliers, only adds to their dignified air. Yet call their name
and watch a Cavalier's face light up. Offer to take them outside
and observe the transformation into an exuberant hunter. As far as
the Cavalier is concerned if it flies, flutters, crawls, or runs; it is
game - and the Cavalier is the mighty hunter.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
can be found in four color combinations:
Ruby - solid red
Blenheim - white dog with red mask and ears, and red body patches
Tricolor - black and white dog with tan points
Black and Tan - no white
Cavaliers are very sensitive dogs. they require a great deal of attention and affection. Their feelings are easily hurt. They have poor tolerance for being left alone. Many Cavaliers can not deal with overly vigorous children, or rough housing. Their heart may be sporting, but they are toy dogs - they need to be protected from large dogs and life's difficulties.
